Burning letters
Luke Hsieh
How bright is this angry flame?
Especially when fed on lover's name,
Farewell is said as kisses withdrew,
A graceful parting before the dawning dew,
Ah, I pray that dews come late,
And let this flame have longer fate,
Heat my body if my heart to the ice turn,
Fire lives on as those sweet letter burns,
Why the cruel ceremony foolish?
Knew I that memory will never vanish?
Even if every page should turn ash,
Then ended as mother earth's trash,
Why then the ceremony foolish,
If they're already engraved against my wish,
If words of love can now burn my heart,,
I would rather burn them first with them part,
Futile ceremony I cannot tell you why,
Burning letters as our contracts die.
